As “Entertainment” board games deliver a far higher return on the money spent than almost any other form of entertainment.  A board game such as Settlers of Catan costs $42.00.  Taking my wife and son to the movies, with popcorn and drinks costs about $39.00

For my $39, we get some snacks and a 2-hour entertainment break – which we do enjoy!  

However, for the $42 purchase of Settlers of Catan, we get 90 minutes of entertainment and conversation – every time we play.  As we have played our copy of Settlers once or twice a month for 3 years – that is 54 hours or entertainment (minimum) for $42.00 – a much superior return on our money.
